"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up." ~ Ephesians 4:11-12
A church is not a building; a church is actually the people of God on a mission together. At Vintage Faith Church, we put a lot of energy and emphasis on equipping and training people for ministry, which means our paid staff spends a lot of time building into those who lead ministries. This is so that those who are part of our larger community can experience the joy and excitement of contributing to the mission of the church first hand. We firmly believe that everyone is called to take part in God's work here on Earth in some way, shape or form and we especially desire to see everyone who is part of Vintage Faith Church find a place in ministry where they can truly thrive and grow.
Because of our heart to "prepare God's people for works of service" a lot of
delegation happens around here and we have a large number of non-staff leaders who actually oversee the ministries. Staff builds into a set of leaders, the leaders build into the people who serve in their specific area of ministry and those on the ministry then care for the larger church. This means the staff functions not so much as the ones who do everything, but as the ones helping to build up the body in a way that the body can actually learn to take care of itself.
Many times, it is expected that the pastors or paid staff will be available to everyone, at any time, for any reason. We are trying hard to break this stereotype so that Vintage Faith Church isn't so much about a few upfront leaders, but much more about the way the whole community works, learns and grows together.
