John and Susan Salluce | Young Adults UCSC Ministry
After meeting in college ministry group at Chico State, John and Susan Salluce have been married for 30 years. Two years ago, they left their home of two decades in Placerville to spend retirement in Santa Cruz. They have two adult children both studying at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
With a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Susan spent many years as a counselor specializing in grief/bereavement. She is also a writer, having published two books - a psychological fiction novel and a non-fiction book about memorial tattoos called GriefINK.
John also has a Master's degree in marriage and family counseling and a license from the state of California as a school counselor. He has spent some time counseling in school districts, and also counseling individuals, couples, and families. Prior to marrying Susan, he had served as a youth pastor and together both of them were involved in college ministry during our college years.
Together, John and Susan have a heart for college students. They spent two years as college ministers in Sendai, Japan and since moving to Santa Cruz have jumped into serving in the Young Adult ministry. They love working with college students because they are searching, in need of connection and it has been a lifelong dream to work with college students.
You can find both of them being extremely active at the ocean, stand-up paddle boarding, collecting sea glass, hanging with college students, traveling, riding bikes and Vespas, cooking up amazing meals, and enjoying community. They are deeply in love and enjoying life together to the full!
