Leadership, Mission & Teaching
Dan serves on staff leading the mission and teaching of Vintage Faith Church.
Dan was born and raised in New Jersey, in a suburban town near New York City. He played drums in a rockabilly and punk band during his college years and after he graduated from Colorado State University, the band moved to London, England to pursue music. Dan was not raised going to a church, but while in college he began wondering whether the Bible was a mythical story and people simply became Christians because of their geographic context of living in American suburbia. When the band ended, he moved to Israel for several months and continued studying the Bible and comparative religions which eventually led to him put faith in Jesus and become a Christian.
After Israel, he moved to Santa Cruz, California where he became part of Santa Cruz Bible Church and got very involved in drumming with the church worship band. He eventually became pastor of high school ministry, and the ministry grew to several hundred teenagers. He then led a ministry to college-age and those in their 20's for several years. Dan's passion is to encourage Christians and the church to intelligently explore the Bible and represent Jesus in the world with creativity and kindness.
Dan has a doctorate from George Fox University and masters degree from Western Seminary.
In addition to serving at Vintage Faith Church, Dan is the Director of the ReGeneration Project at Western Seminary. The ReGeneration Project is a collaboration of national leaders to guide and equip new generations in theology, apologetics and the arts to be serving on mission in their world. Dan teaches pastoral and ministry classes at various Western Seminary campuses and also teaches at George Fox University.
